If the Avalon Bay has one major drawback, it’s that the overall look of it isn’t very exciting… mind you, it isn’t ugly as sin either. There are some molded contours to break up the egg shaped look, and the stainless steel look panels will help it fit in nicely with a modern kitchen.
There are three colors available for the AB100. You can take your pick of glossy black, clean white, or bright red. I prefer the black with the stainless accents, but the white is really nice and clean looking too. The bright red is just a little too loud for an appliance that I don’t want to be a focal point in my kitchen.
The basket and pan fit together really well and slide in and out of the unit with only slight difficulty at times. I haven’t had any trouble with the coating on the non-stick coming off as some have reported. The basket is dishwasher safe but I prefer to hand wash mine. Overall, clean up is a breeze.
The AB100 features a really nice built in handle at the top of the unit. I’ve made plenty of use of it myself, and the unit itself carries well at only 14 pounds. Have Air Fryer – Will Travel! Read our avalon bay air fryer reviews.
Controls and Ease of Use
The controls of the AB100 are simple as can be. You just set the time and temperature on the analogue dials and off you go!
The Air Fryer will automatically turn off when the timer is spent. If you prefer digital controls with preset programs, there is a digital version available.
The Air Fryer itself will turn off when you take the basket out to check your food, and will turn back on when reinserted. This is a nice feature because you won’t have to reset your timer every time you want to check out how your food is coming along.
Overall, the AB100 is extremely easy to use. In over my 2+ years of using it, I haven’t had any headaches with it. Just remember, for best results remember to preheat the unit for 3-5 minutes depending on temperature.
At 3.7quarts, the AB100 is in the medium range for capacity. This is about the equivalent of a 1pd bag of frozen fries. This model is suitable for cooking 1-3 servings at a time. Avalon Bay does offer a smaller unit, but if you want a 4-5 person capacity Air Fryer, you’ll have to look at other options.
The AB100 is certainly no slouch in the performance category. The stainless steel heating element delivers 14oo watts of heating power. You can cook a batch of frozen fries in 20-25 minutes, which is comparable to the highest quality Air Fryer models.
Personally, I’ve never had a problem with food coming out uneven or overdone with my Avalon Bay. Just remember to try not to overload the basket. If your basket is completely filled, give it a shake or turn your food over throughout the cooking process.
At $69.99 with free shipping on Amazon, the Avalon Bay 100 is extremely affordable and a real deal for what you get. I bought mine back when they were $120 and I do not feel short changed at that price, so today’s $69 price tag makes it a no brainer.
The AB100 actually comes with a small baking dish and grill rack that will really add some diversity as far as what you can cook with it. I’ve made mini cakes and brownies in mine. I like to cover the grill with foil and use the Air Fryer as a broiler too!
There is no Warranty mentioned on either Amazon or the official Avalon Bay website. I’ve really put mine through a lot over the last couple years and I haven’t signs of it letting up!
The Round Up
Overall, the Avalon Bay AB100 is a really nice package at an affordable price. Not only do you get a respectable performing Air Fryer, you get the baking dish and the grill grate too. Let’s take a look at the avalon bay air fryer reviews.
All of the basic features are here, and they are all done well. If you are looking for a more stylish Air Fryer with all the bells and whistles, I could see how you might want to continue your search.
You might not get the premium performance with the AB100 that the Philips can offer, but if you want a good alternative at a friendlier budget, I don’t think you’ll regret choosing the Avalon Bay AB100. All you have to do now is choose what color you want!
Overall Score: A-
Pros: Good Performance, Easy to Use, Nice Carry Handle on the Top, Included Accessories, The Price is Right!
