Do Air Fryers Use Oil? Solving the Air Fryer Mystery

Do Air Fryers Use Oil? Do Air Fryers Work? We’ll answer those questions air fryers use oil?

With the promise of cooking fried foods with only air, Air Fryers are increasing in popularity throughout the United States. Odds are, you have probably been seeing Air Fryers more often on store shelves lately.

But, is it true that Air Fryers fry food without any oil at all? And if so, how exactly do they do it? I’ve had years of experience cooking with these things, and I’d be happy to answer your question for you.

Do Air Fryers Use Oil

The correct answer is that Air Fryers can fry food with less oil.  In fact, Air Fryers use about 80% less oil than a deep fryer typically uses. What does this mean for you?

Cooking oil is high in calories and especially high in fat content. A little oil in our food is definitely a good thing, because our bodies need good fats. Of course, it’s easy to overdo it when it comes to consuming too much oil when you’re eating deep fried food covered in fatty oils!

Because Air Fryers use much less oil to fry food, you can cook your favorite foods like fries and chicken wings in a much healthier way. Now you can enjoy your guilty little pleasures with a lot less guilt!

More French Fries…More Wings??? I’m on board!

I have been cooking with Air Fryers for over 3 years now, and I have come to use them more than any kitchen appliance I own. I love making wings and fries in the Air Fryer. Knowing that I can cook them in a much healthier way than what I can get at a restaurant is awesome!

Cooking with an Air Fryer is super easy and a lot more safe than a deep fryer too! All you really have to do is throw your food in the basket and spray it with a little cooking oil. Then you set the time and temperature and off you go! You can make delicious wings in about 15-20 minutes and french fries in 20-25 minutes. Do Air Fryers use oil?

But how do these Air Fryers actually fry food without using much oil…and is it safe for you and your family?

Simple Yet Powerful Technology

The Air Fryer uses rapidly circulated hot air to cook food instead of relying on oil like a deep fryer. Simply put, there is a heating element (just like an electric stove) that quickly heats up the air. Then a powerful fan blows the hot air completely around your food.

This is how the Air Fryer can cook food quickly and more efficiently than a conventional oven. Air Fried food comes out crispy on the inside and juicy and tender in the middle.

Because the Air Fryer only uses an electric stainless steel heating element to create heat, it is more safe to cook with than the deep fryer which can produce toxic fumes. You can also use the Air Fryer to quickly reheat leftovers instead of the microwave. Who knows what that microwave is doing to your food anyway?

Do More With The Air Fryer

Air Fryers are actually very versatile appliances. You can  grill, bake and broil with them too! I love to cook a marinated chicken breast in the Air Fryer. It always cooks so evenly and makes a nice crispy outside layer. I’ve even baked brownies and cookies with my Air Fryer.

There are accessories available like specially sized pans and grill racks that will help you get the most out of the Air Fryer. Also, cookbooks made specifically for the Air Fryer are readily available. You would be amazed at the sheer variety of food you can make with Air Fryers!

Honestly, I’m not afraid to try pretty much anything in my Air Fryer!
