Top 5 Air Fryers – The Best of The Best

Check out the top 5 air fryers!

Even though most Air Fryers look like chubby bubbles of plastic, not all of them are created equal. Some Air Fryers perform better than others because they have a more powerful heating element. There are Air Fryers that perform better simply because they are designed better. I’ve used quite a few different Air Fryers, and I’d love to help you pick one out that would suit you best.

When shopping for your Air Fryer, it’s important to think about how many people you want to cook for. If you are cooking for 3-4 people, you will want to look for an Air Fryer that has a 5 quart basket or higher. There are plenty of smaller Air Fryers available for 1-3 people that are in the 3 to 4 quart size.

Some other things you might want to consider are:

  • Do I want digital controls with preset programs for cooking common items or are boring old analogue dials ok?
  • Do I want a see through window or am I happy enough just to pull out the basket and check my food?
  • Some are fryers feature food agitators that move the food around while it’s cooking so you don’t have to.
  • How important is portability to me? Some Air Fryers are very heavy. Some feature an easy to carry handle.
  • Budget – Air Fryers range from $60 all the way up to $300.
  • NOTE- Amazon changes their price on these things almost daily, so i’m sorry if the screen shot is different from actual price.

The Top 5 Air Fryers

If you have been enjoying this guide and are interested in buying an Air Fryer, all I would like to ask is if you would be kind enough to consider using one of the official Amazon links provided on this page.

If you do use one of these links, you will have the exact same shopping experience as you normally would, but Amazon sends me a small commission for advertising their products (no matter which products you choose). This allows me to keep sharing my love of Air Fryers and cooking. If you have any questions concerning this, please feel free to ask away! Thanks a lot…and on with the list!

1. Philips XL Air Fryer

philips air fryer 1The Top Spot goes to the Philips Air Fryer XL. With over 260 reviews on amazon averaging 4.4 out of 5 stars, the Philips XL is widely known as the cream of the Air Fryer crop.

If you’re looking for bells and whistles, the Philips XL has get ’em all. The all digital touchscreen interface features easy one-touch preset programs for your favorite foods. You can even set custom made programs of your own!

The Philips XL is a large 5.5 quart capacity Air Fryer, suitable for cooking meals for up to 4 people. It features a huuuge 1750 watt heating element that will make quick work of your french fries. It also features the “starfish” patented design which adds extra performance in the cooking department.

Philips features a full line of accessories for it’s products, so you’ll have room to grow with your Air Fryer. My favorite is the grill attachment that as it’s own handle. You can cook some sweet burgers with that bad boy!

If you are looking for the best large capacity Air Fryer you can buy (budget be darned), the Philips XL is the one for you!

2. Cozyna Concord Air Fryer

Cozyna Air Fryers 2Although Cozyna may not be a household brand, their Concord Air Fryer has been around a while and is one of the highest reviewed Air Fryers Available. The Concord has over 600 reviews with an average of 4.5 out of 5 stars!  It may not have the bells and whistles, but its a solid performer at an affordable price.

I think the reason why you see this one reviewed so well is that for it’s size, it has a massive power supply at 1500 watts. This means your food will cook faster and come out crispier. This Air Fryer has simple analogue dials for temp and time, so if you’re looking for digital presettings, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

The Cozyna Air Fryer features a dishwasher safe 3.7 quart basket, which can cook 3-4 servings at a time. The cool touch handle is also a really nice feature. A cookbook and manual are included as well as a separate Ebook that you’ll get access to.

Cozyna is one of the few companies that offers a solid 2 year warranty on their Air Fryers. Customers rave about the customer experience at Cozyna as well, which is always nice to hear. If you are looking for a 3-4 serving capacity Air Fryer and you’re ok with not having digital controls, this one is a sweet deal for less than a Benjamin.

3. Philips Viva HD9220

philips Air Fryers 3Philips pretty much paved the way for the modern Air Fryer with it’s Viva HD9220 Airfryer. With over 730 reviews averaging 4.4 stars out of 5, it is the best selling Air Fryer to date. The price has recently been reduced, so owning this little beauty is more practical than ever.

Philips is renowned for making excellent performing Air Fryers, and the Viva is no exception. It features a 1400 watt heating element, which will cook a batch of frozen fries in about 20-25 minutes. The Starfish design helps circulate air more effectively.

Capacity is limited in the Viva. You can expect to prepare 2-3 servings at a time. The controls are of the simple dial variety. If you are looking for a higher capacity Air Fryer with digital controls, the Philips XL would better fit your needs.

Philips produces a full line of really useful accessories, so you wont get bored with your Viva any time soon!     Read Full Review Here

4. De’longhi MultiFry FH1163

delonghi Air Fryers 4The De’longhi MultiFry is a different kind of beast than most Air Fryers. This is more of a multi-cooker based on Air Fryer technology. Unlike most Air Fryers, it features a separate bottom burner and removable paddle that automatically stirs your food. This makes it possible to bake pizzas, brownies, and cakes without added accessories.

Because the pan is water tight, you can make ingredients with liquid elements. It’s awesome for making casseroles and pastas because you can just throw everything in and walk away while the MultiFry cooks and stirs your food. De’longhi throws in a removable timer, so you can take that with you too…how awesome is that?

The pan itself is quite large, so you can easily cook for up to 4 people. The pan and paddle are also dishwasher safe, but I prefer to hand wash mine.

The only complaint I have with the MultiFry is that it is a little underpowered at 1200 watts. I own this one and the Avalon Bay Air Fryer, so I usually end up using this one for baking and casseroles, and I use the Avalon Bay for all of my fried foods. If you have the budget to own the MultiFry plus one of these other Air Fryers, you might never use your oven again (i don’t).

  • Pros: Large Capacity, Bottom Burner, Automatic Removable Paddle Allows More Versatility than Any Air Fryer
  • Cons: A Little Underpowered (1200w), A Little Noisy      Click Here To Buy Directly from

5. Avalon Bay Air Fryer AB100

avalon bay Air Fryer 5The Avalon Bay Air Fryer has been one of the most popular Air Fryers over the last 3 years. It has over 850 reviews on Amazon, averaging 4.3 stars out of 5. I have owned this machine for over 2 years, and she’s been nothing but good to me.

The AB100 features a powerful 1400 watt heating element that will make quick work of whatever you’re brave enough to throw at it. The 3.7quart basket is big enough to cook 2-3 servings at a time, or roughly a bag of frozen french fries. It’s dishwasher safe as well, but I like to clean my non-stick cookware by hand.

The controls are in simple dial form, and the timer automatically shuts the unit off after the cooking time has expired. There are no presets or any such bells and whistles on the AB100…It simply does the job, and does it well. The Avalon Bay does include a small grill and baking pan, which is nice for the price. You really can’t go wrong with this one!    Read The Full Review Here

Hi Linda, thanks for visiting! The Philips Air Fryer XL (check it out on Amazon) is definitely the one I would go with if price isn’t important. It really has everything going for it with excellent performance, easy digital controls, and large capacity.

Thanks for all your information on air fryers. I’ve always used the old fashion deep fryer, but really want to use as little oil as possible. I felt more comfortable with making a decision if I should really get it or not. I’m sorry that I couldn’t get one of the fryers you had picked but I do a lot of chicken wings (about 10 pounds) at a time and so I went with a 5.5 quart fryer. But of course I did get it from Amazon!!!!
